I’m Douglas MacDougall. I do freelance web development out of Portland, Oregon — mostly WordPress builds, the occasional React project, and a lot of conversations with small business owners about why they don’t need as many features as they think they do.
People have called me MacDoug since college. It’s a surname thing. I’ve stopped correcting people who shorten it further to just Mac, though I draw the line at Doug, which sounds like someone else entirely.
I don’t update this site as often as I should. When I do, it’s usually about something I’ve been chewing on at work, or something I’ve turned up while chasing the MacDougall family line through Scottish parish records. Both are niche interests and I’m aware they’re niche interests.
